Cable styles 2

There are different grades of 1x7 galvanized guy strand cable. You will want to make sure you select "Extra High Strength" EHS Class A cable. You may find cheaper cable. Be very careful when selecting your cable. Selecting the correct cable diameter will depend on a few factors.

     * Length of row

     * Number of plants planted in each row

     * Full grown plant weight varies depending on variety. (Average is

        30lbs, we use 40lbs.)

For example: If you have a row that is 250 feet long, you may have over 80 plants in that row. That would be (80 x 40 =3200lbs.)  Make sure you select a size cable to accommodate the appropriate weight.  Don’t forget to account for rain and wind. We don't recommend going below 3/16 cable. We feel 3/16 should be the minimum. You also have to select either 1x7, 7x7 or 7x19 cable, we recommend going with 1x7 which will last longer on V design trellis. Many people use 7x19 cable. We do not recommend this. The areas where the cables cross in a V design rub and after a few years the tiny strands in the 7x19 begin to break and can cause total failure.
